The Vancouver, Victoria, or Squamish office requires a qualified Electrical Engineer/Designer to assist senior engineers in delivering projects.

  • Roadway, pedestrian, and multi-user pathway lighting
  • Traffic signal infrastructure design, traffic engineering, traffic signal timing analysis
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
  • Power distribution

Position Summary

Working closely with senior engineers, the Electrical Engineer/Designer will be an active member of the Transportation team, with responsibility for project tasks in the following areas:

  • Project and client management
  • Preparation of electrical designs for traffic signals and lighting
  • Preparation of electrical and systems design for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure including CCTV, Advanced Traveler Information Systems, Traffic Safety Systems, Active Traffic Management Systems.
  • Preparation of calculations and simulations
  • Preparation of design documentation, including drawings, cost estimates, and construction specifications
  • Performing construction services and site inspections
  • Performing system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting

A successful candidate will help support the company’s large and diverse project portfolio, where opportunities for efficiencies will need to be identified and implemented in order to manage demands related to time and resources as the company grows and workload increases.

Qualifications

In addition to experience with the above responsibilities, the qualifications for this position include:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Eagerness to learn and a positive, professional attitude
  • Able to effectively deal with a high level of responsibility and demanding work schedule
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Strong computer skills including good working knowledge of the MS Office suite
  • Eligible for registration with EGBC as an EIT/P.Eng., or as an AScT with ASTTBC, as appropriate.

Assets

Knowledge of the following areas is not mandatory, but is considered an asset to the position:

  • Experience with traffic simulation and modelling using Synchro
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with AGI
  • Security system design including CCTV, perimeter security, and access control platform
  • Building electrical systems including residential, commercial, and industrial facilities
  • Water and wastewater infrastructure including SCADA systems and Automation
