PBX provided electrical engineering design and construction services to modernize the emergency lighting and exit signage for St. James Anglican Church. The church is one of Vancouver’s oldest buildings whose feature areas are constructed using poured concrete and heritage wood paneling. In addition to worship, the church provides community outreach services to the downtown east-side and is featured prominently in many TV and movie productions filmed in Vancouver.
Because of the heritage features of the structure and the construction which prevents easy concealment of new installation, all work had to be planned in detail to minimize aesthetic impacts to the heritage paneling and lighting while still meeting code requirements.
PBX coordinated extensively with the church caretakers, staff, project manager, and code consultant in order to achieve a design acceptable to all stakeholders.
