PBX recently provided electrical engineering consulting services for the remote Triangle Island Environmental Research Facility located 45km from the northern tip of Vancouver Island.
The new facility, which replaces an existing structure composed of mostly found materials, provides housing for research personnel studying birds and other sea life on the island. As the island has no electrical or communication infrastructure in place, the new facility uses a portable generator and photovoltaic (PV) array to power its lighting systems, equipment charging, and other research activities.
PBX provided support for on-site contracting services during the project’s tender and construction phases, and designed energy efficient lighting, power distribution, generator tie-in, and PV array solutions.
