Victoria Airport Launches EV Charging
14 Mar, 2016
  • News

evPBX Engineering is pleased to have been involved in the roll-out of the new electrical vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Victoria Airport.

The Victoria Aiport Authority (VAA) installed three new Sun Country Level 2 charging stations, with each station having the capacity to charge two vehicles.  In total, the VAA now has four dedicated charging spots in the long term parking lot and an additional two in the short term parking lot.  There are no additional fees to use the stations outside of the standard parking rates charged for each lot.  As part of the project to install the charging stations, the VAA has installed the required supporting electrical infrastructure to install additional chargers in the future.  The VAA plans to monitor the usage of the new stations and assess when to install more as demand for electric vehicles increases.

rajRaj Atwal, Senior Electrical Engineer at PBX Engineering, provided preliminary design, detailed design, tender and construction services for the VAA Electric Vehicle charging stations project.  Raj initially produced a study and options analysis for the VAA, who then commissioned the project to proceed. The project involved a new outdoor service distribution kiosk that provides power to all of the charging stations (present and future).
